The State Government, by a special proclamation, has fixed the maximum price of the 21b. loaf of bread, sold over the counter, at sld, as against s,’d decreed by the Master Bakers’ Association. As farthings are not currency, this virtually represents a cut of a halfpenny in the increase of one penny fixed by the master bakers to meet the £5 15s"per ton excise tax on flour.
