ITALIAN DEMANDS BITTERLY RESENTED
DEMONSTRATIONS IN TUNIS & CORSICA.
MAYORS . ASSERT LOYALTY TO FRANCE.

Demonstrators in Tunis wrecked an Italian bookshop. Mounted police dispersed them after the windows of an Italian air line had been smashed. Mayors throughout Tunis and Corsica sent telegrams to the French Government protesting against the Italian demands and -expressing loyalty to France. The demonstrations went on all through the night with a list of casualties estimated at 200 or 300.

Corbin, French Ambassador in London, of Britain’s support of French resistance to Italy’s claims. BRAWL IN SHANGHAI. FRENCH SAILORS & ITALIAN MARINES. SHANGHAI, December 5. A brawl between French sailors and Italian marines in Cabaret Street, known as “Blood Alley,” resulted in one Italian marine and three French police being wounded. Seven Italian marines were arrested.

Daladier, in a statement said that since last Thursday he had received thousands of telegrams from Corsican municipalities and associations, also Tunisians,* renewing attachment to France and expressing the hope that he will visit Corsica and Tunis in (January. Meanwhile the spontaneous • testimony of these communications was the best answer to the Italian demonstrations, against which France had protested and from which the Italian Government had dissassociated itself. M.' Daladier added that Frenchmen were resolved to secure the, integrity of all territory and urged residents of Corsica and Tunis to refrain from demonstrations. *
