KURIPUNI CHURCH

SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. FINE SINGING BL CHOIR. The 58th anniversary of the Kuripuni Methodist Sunday school, which was held yesterday, proved a great success. Kuripuni residents were early aware of some unusual occurrence when the Central School Band marched into South Road, much to the delight of the crowd that had gathered in the vicinity. Following the band came the Masterton boy scouts. The eleven o’clock service saw the church full—and the choir of eighty voices under the conductorship of Mr W. Davies captivated the audience by its musical and spirited interpretation of the various numbers. Mr F. Rutter was the preacher. At 2.30. p.m. the church was again crowded, many people being unable to gain admission. The choir gave another very fine performance. The guest artists (a novel introduction) were the West School band, under Mr Boys, who rendered several much appreciated items, the most outstanding being “Stranger of Galilee” and “Silent Night.” Mr A. E. Bate was the speaker. At 7 p.m. the Rev F.’ J. Parker addressed a large audience. Everybody was impressed with the excellence of the children’s choir and the importance of the Sunday school in this growing suburban area. The concert and prize giving will be held tonight. j | '
