DARGAVILLE RAILWAY
PROPOSAL TO PULL UP KIRIKOPUNI LOOP. MINISTER SAYS: “AT NO VERY DISTANT DATE.” (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DARGAVILLE, This Day. The Minister of Railways (Mr Sullivan) on a visit to Dargaville during the weekend, was met by a large gathering including the Mayor, Mr Raymond Gibson, representatives of the Borough Council and other local bodies. The chief point of discussion was whether the route adopted by the Railways Department into Dargaville was the shortest that could be found. After hearing representations and also detailed replies by departmental officers, the Minister said he would consider carefully notes of the evidence which had been submitted apd would give a reply at an early date. During the discussion it was suggested that the route could be shortened by the pulling up of the Kirikopuni balloon loop. The Minister interjected: “At no very distant date.”
