ADDRESS BY MR LYONS NEED OF BEING PREPARED. MEANS OF AVERTING WAR. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. In an address broadcast throughout Australia, the Federal Prime Minister, Mr J. A. Lyons, referred to circumstances influencing the Government in its ambitious defence scheme. He said he did not believe for a moment that war was inevitable, but if we hoped to avoid war, we must be prepared for it. He made a strong appeal for co-opera-tion in the campaign to increase the militia forces.
