MASTERTON BRANCH. ANNUAL MEETING. The postponed annual meeting of the W.C.T.U. was held in the Methodist classroom on Thursday. Mrs H. Speight presided over a gdod attendance of members. The devotions were led by; Mrs Jansen, who was presented with a floral token in appreciation of her valuable services as Evangelistic Superintendent. Mrs Jansen feelingly responded. A welcome was extended to a prospective member who was duly inith ated. Annual reports were presented, an encouraging note being the steady progress made in the children’s work under the leadership of Mrs C. Sims. Appreciation was expressed to Mrs Sims and’ Miss Jackson for their assistance in this department. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Miss Tankersley; vice-presidents, all re-elected with the addition of Mrs Sims; recording secretary, Mrs H. Speight; correspondence secretary, Mrs C. Sims; treasurer, Mrs Coddington; evangelistic superintendent, Mrs Jansen; literature superintendent, Mrs T. Miller; hospital visitor, Mrs Taylor; other appointments held over till the February meeting. Appreciation' was expressed of the services rendered by the outgoing officers. Mrs Speight, the retiring president, based a few remarks on the 19th verse of the 7th Chap, of Hebrews: “The law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did. by the which we draw nigh unto God.” The meeting terminated with prayer and the pronouncing of the benediction by Mrs Speight.
