METHODIST LADIES’ GUILD

PYRAMID SOCIAL. A most successful and entertaining function took place in the Methodist Sunday School Hall on Wednesday night. It was the wind-up social for the year and was arranged by the Ladies’ Guild.

The Rev. F. J. Parker in a few happy words opened the proceedings, and on behalf of the Guild welcomed the many visitors and performers. The four stalls arranged by the ladies (Christmas gift, produce, sweets and cakes) did good business. The games room in charge of Mr C. D. Shoosmith, proved popular to many. The social programme in charge of Mr D. A. Barns Went with a swing. Items which were received with hearty applause were rendered by the following:—Chorus, Townswomen’s Guild; sketch, Y.W.8.C.; vocal duet, Mrs Bourke and Miss O’Donnell; quartette, Mrs G. Milne, Miss Jamieson, Messrs Hall and Donald; recitations, Mr H. Brader. Mrs D. A. Barns ably officiated at the piano. Several amusing games and competitions were indulged in and much enjoyed by the large gathering present. The Pyramid cards brought in, yielded a welcome addition to the ladies’ effort tb assist the Church Trust Fund. At the close of the function Mr Par l ker proposed Votes of thanks to those who kindly assisted with the pro l gramme and to all who helped to make the gathering a success.
