LAWN TENNIS CLUE. ANNUAL MEETING OF 1 MEMBERS. T&-(“Times-Age” Special.) The annual general meeting of 11? Pongaroa Lawn Tennis Club was held in the County Council Chambers. Owing to the absence of several local enthusiasts following seasonal occupations only a limited number were able to attend the meeting. Those present were: Messis Donovan (in the chair). Kent, Mayman, Perano, Rankin, Rus-sell-Bunn. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr M. Theed (re-elected); patron. Mr W. E. Davies : (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messis G. A. Yeoman, A. G. Featonby, S. F. Herbert. P. R. Kent, L. Johnston, G. F. Smith, R. C. Satherley; hon auditor. Mr A. P. Campbell (re-elected): hon secretaries. Messrs A. Russell-Bunn/ A. D. Perar.o (re-elected), club captain, Mr P. Donovan (re-elected); executive committee. Messrs Donovan Kent. Mayman. Perano. Rankm, Russell, Satherley Theed; ladies’ committee, Mesdames Donovan, May man, Rankin and Misses Berry, Coombridge, Kent and McLaren. Subscriptions for the year wen; decided upon as follows: —Men 7s 6d, ladies 55." It was decided that school children be granted the use of the courts up to 4.30 p.m. on week days and op Saturday mornings conditional upon their vacating the courts when necessary. The resignation df a keen supporter of the club (Mr A. G. Featonby) was received and accepted with regret. It was resolved that the club’s appreciation of his valued services be placed on record. The secretary was also instructed to write to Mr Featonby expressing regret at his resignation and expressing appreciation of his services. The opening day was fixed for Sunday, December 4, when neighbouring clubs are to be invited to attend. Trophies were presented by Mr W. E. Davies and Mr and Mrs A. Russell Bunn. It was resolved that the club’s appreciation of the donors’ actions be placed on record. The allocation of these trophies was left in the hands of the committee. Other matters of minor importance were dealt with, after which the meeting closed with a hearty vote of thanks to the chair. PERSONAL. Miss June Kent returned to Martinborough on Monday last after spending a week with her parents, Mr and Mrs P. R. Kent. Mr R. Johansen returned to “Glencoe” yesterday, after paying brief visits to Palmerston North, and Masterton. Miss Whiffin, Kcrora, who has been on a short visit to Masterton, has returned home. Mrs G. T. Smith, who has been visting her sister, Mrs R. Gray, returned ihis week.
