MASTERTON STOCK SALE
IMPROVEMENT IN FAT SHEEP PRICES. Prices for fat sheep showed a slight improvement at today’s Masterton stock sale, though only a small yarding came forward. Best wethers realised 20s 4d, prime heavy ewes 13s 3d, lighter sorts 11s 3d, and black-face 2tooths (good) )8s 7d. A line of 4-tooth -horn wethers brought 18s lOd. WRIGHT. STEPHENSON & CO. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report: A small yarding came forward at today’s sale. There was a lair entry of fat sheep and values appreciated considerably, fat shorn wethcrs making over £1 and shorn fat ewes up to 14s. Stores sold well. A few cattle wore offered which sold at late values. The following are prices: F;P. shorn B.F’ wethers, 16s to 17s 6d; ‘•horn wethers, 19s 3d to 20s Id; woolly B.F. ewes. 18s; store woolly ewe hoggots (small), 26s to 28s; fat dairy cows £5 7s; forward cows, £4 to £4 10s: store cows. £2 15s to £3; empty heifers. £3; yearling steers, £3 7s. Pigs: Weaners, to 23s 6d; store pigs, to 31s; light porkers, to 32s 6d.
