Professor Stefan Escugoarga, rector of Cluj University, who was shot by two students alleged to be members of the Fascist Iron Guard, died today. Hundreds were arrested after the discovery that the Iron Guard w.as planning a terrorist campaign and troops surrounded the city. Cinemas and public halls are closed and students’ homes are being searched. The police state that no mercy will be shown to those attempting an antiSemitic campaign.
