WEDDING
MOONEY—CROSSAN
A pretty wedding of much interest to Hastings and Masterton residents, took place recently at the Sacred Heart Church, Hastings, when Zena Careen, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. M. Crossan, King Street, Hastings, was married to Cecil Edwin, youngest son of Mr and Mrs W. Mooney, of Masterton. The Rev Father Heagney performed the ceremony. The bride, who was escorted by her father, made a charming picture in her wedding gown of deep magnolia satin, cut on classical lines. The bodice had a heart-shaped neckline and was rucked down the front. A spray of orange blossom was worn at the neck. The sleeves were long and fitting, with fullness at the shoulders. Her long tulle veil, to match her frock, was beautifully embroidered in a large lily design. She wore a coronet of orange blossom and tiny lilies. Her bouquet was of red roses and carnations. Two bridesmaids and two little flower girls attended the bride. They were the Misses Marjbrie Crossan (chief), and Pearl Markham. The little flower girls were Lenore Crossan and Ngaire Gray. The ’maids were dressed alike in pale shell pink taffeta, cut with long flared skirts and fitting bodices. Big pink roses finished the heart-shaped neckline. Their bouquets were of shaded pink roses and maidenhair fern. They wore shell pink tulle veils arranged with circlets of small pink roses. The flower girls were charming in their frocks of powder blue taffeta, cut on similar lines to those of the older ’maids. They wore circlets of blue flowers and carried posies of pink rose buds and sweet peas. Little Joy Bramley presented the bride, on leaving the church, with a lucky shoe made of natural orange blossom. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Bob Deans as best man, and Mr Maurice Crossan as groomsman. A reception was held later at the Pas-adena tea-rooms, where the bride’s parents, assisted by Mr and Mrs W. Mooney, received a large number of guests. The tables were attractively decorated with roses and sweet peas. The handsome two-tiered wedding cake was made by the bride’s mother and iced and decorated by a friend of the bride. The usual toasts were honoured and many telegrams of congratulation were read.
Mrs Crossan wore a smart frock of clover georgette over satin, with a draped neckline. She wore a black hat trimmed with, clover georgette and spray. Her bouquet was of shaded pink stock, anemones, ranunculus and fern.
Mrs' Mooney, mother of the bridegroom, wore an attractive black sheer crepe de chine frock relieved with white. Her hat was black and trimmed with white. She wore a bouquet of mauve shaded stocks. The bride chose for travelling a smartly cut suit of cedar green summer tweed, with which she wore a brown satin blouse. Her hat was of cedar green stitched faille. Her accessories were brown. She wore fur which was the gift of nie bridegroom. Many handsome gifts were received by the bride and bridegroom. A large crowd gathered at the station to see them off on their honeymoon. Mr and Mrs C. E. Mooney’s future home will be in Masterton.
