COSY THEATRE

“THE DEVIL’S PARTY.”

Highlighting the adventurous life history of five pals who emerge from one of the toughest districts in New York, Universal’s “The Devil’s Party,” will be shown at the Cosy Theatre tonight, with Victor McLaglen starring in one of his famous roles. Adapted for the screen from a novel by Borden Chase, this picture delineates the enduring friendships and fierce loyalties that develop among children who grow up together in a great city. Beautiful Beatrice Roberts, Paul Kelly, William Gargan, Frank Jenks, John Gallaudet, Edward Gargan and Joe Downing have important roles. A well-written story, excellent direction and well-enacted portrayals are features of the “Invisible Enemy,” the second attraction on the programme. Alan Marshal, Tala Birell, Mady Correll, C. Henry Gordon, Herbert Mundin, Ivan Simpson and Leonard Willey are. among the featured names in the film, and everyone gives an excellent characterisation. Marshal is a British Intelligence Officer. He is assigned to stop Gordon, who is a Continental capitalist planning to sell valuable oil lands to a foreign government. Marshal has previously been discharged from the department because of an affair with a Parisian beauty who is now the wife of Gordon. If he can thwart the capitalist’s plans, he will be reinstated into the department. The Louis-Schmelling fight will also be on the programme. Tomorrow at the matinee will be shown another chapter of “Radio Patrol.”

For tomorrow’s . change of programme there will be presented “Sing, Baby Sing,” and “High Tension,” two outstanding pictures. “The Yodelling Hillbilly” with his guitar will appear in person on the stage tomorrow night.
