REGENT THEATRE
“THE BARRIER.” Tonight the Regent programme will be headed by Rex Beach’s great story, “The Barrier,” with Leo Carrillo and Jean Parker in the leading roles, supported by Otto Kruger, James Ellison, and Robert Barratt. In the midst of a mad vortex of greedy humanity a girl strikes out for romance and finds herself up against the strangest barrier ever created by man. “The Barrier,” one of the most popular novels ever written by the master of outdoor fiction, Rex Beach, was made into a motion picture by Paramount Producer Harry Sherman. It took seven long years of negotiations before Sherman could get the screen rights to the book, which he considers the best material for an outdoor film that Beach has ever turned out. “The Barrier,” is the story of a romance between an army lieutenant on duty in Alaska (James Ellison) and a young Alaskan girl (Jean Parker), who is believed to be half Indian. An absorbing photoplay works out their happiness together. "‘Sing You, Sinners” will head the next change Of programme at the Regent Theatre.
