SATISFACTORY POSITION
WAIRARAPA P. & A. FINANCES. PROFIT ON YEAR’S WORKING. (“Times-Age” Special.) General satisfaction at the outcome of the year’s operations was expressed by members at today’s meeting of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society. The Secretary, Mr L. H. Smart, said it was estimated that the year would finish with a profit of £‘lBs Is 2d. Last year a profit of £414 9s Id was made. Mr Smart said that in spite of the competition of the Royal Show, entries at the society’s recent show had been very good, the Wairarapa breeders rising splendidly to the occasion. Receipts from the Night Show were the third best on record, while they received the largest amount they had ever had from the sideshows. It was very satisfactory to note that the total expenditure of £2317 17s 9d only showed an increase of £lB 2s 3d on last year's figures. Taking everything into consideration, he. thought there was every reason for members to “shake hands with themselves.” It was a matter for regret that subscriptions were down by £75 and he thought that it would be necessary to launch a campaign for increased membership. Mr G. Brown said it was disconcerting to see a drop in subscriptions, but it was a matter that was controllable to a certain extent. It was pleasing to see that during a period of rising costs expenses had only increased by £lB. Taking everything into consideration, the outcome could be regarded as very satisfactory.
