MEASURES OF EXPANSION IN U.S.A. SIGNIFICANT STATEMENT. ANTICIPATION OF DRASTIC INCREASES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.30 p.m.) BOSTON, November 18. Mr Johnson, Assistant-Secretary for War, declared that the United States must “double, treble and perhaps even quadruple' ’its present Army and Air Force, in order to keep abreast of the world armament race. President Roosevelt is at present considering recommendations to Congress. Mr Johnson’s statement is regarded as an indication that drastic increases are under consideration.
