MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB. PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. (“Times-Ago" Special.) The Miniature Rifle Club’s dance held in the Anzac Hall was a great sucess, many visitors from surrounding districts being present as well as a party of Canterbury young farmers. The music was supplied by Udy s Orchestra, Misses N. and M. Tocker and P. Fraser playing extras. The joint M.C’s. were Messrs A. Cook and H. Williams. Miss Ramsden (Martinborough) gave an exhibition tap dance. The winners of the Monte Carlo were Mr S. Parker and Miss Daysh, and Mr N. Fairbrother and partner. The supper tables and stage were tastefully decorated with Iceland poppies. Miss Card presented the following trophies won during the season: — Championship, Nix Cup, A Grade: Miss J. Brash. B Championship, Moriarity Cup: Miss P. Nix. Viles Cup: A. Reid. No. 1 Whitcombe and Caldwell Cup: B. Williams; No. 2, Miss J. Brash. Austin Cup: Miss P. Nix. Watson Cup, A. McLeod. Yule Cup: I. Feast. Miss Card’s trophy: Miss Grace Brash. 2nd A grade championship: A. Cook. 3rd A grade championship: T. Browne 2nd. B grade championship: Miss G. Brash. 3rd B grade championship: I. Feast Competition No. 1, Mr N. Hardie’s trophy, Miss J. Brash 1, A. McLeod 2, Miss N. Thompson 3. President’s trophy: A. McLeod. Club trophy: Miss P. Nix. Club trophy: A. Cook. Competition No. 3 —club trophies: I. Browne 1, A. McLeod 2, E. McKenzie 3. Personals. Mr and Mrs H. Le. Grove Auckland, paid a brief visit to Featherston today. and were the guests of Mrs H. rt. Bloxam. Mrs P. Bennett, New Plymouth, is visiting Aer aunt, Mrs Chas. Elgar, Fernside. Mr C. W. Houghton, who has been employed by the Borough Council for a number of years, has, owing to illness, been granted sick leave until the next council meeting. \ Laying of Water Main. At a special meeting of the Borough Council lost night, held for the purpose of considering tenders for laying the new 8-inch water main, two tenders were received, those of V. A. Draper and Co. (£1359 5s 6d) and C. R. Quinn (£1220 7s). After consideration it was decided to accept the tender of the latter with certain amendments suggested by the engineer.
