NOVEL SHADE OF LIPSTICK
TONIC EFFECT ON WOMEN. A novel shade of lipstick has the same tonic effect on some women as a new hat. Many are the shades of lipsticks. but a “natural” shade is a good one for a girl, and for the woman whose husband does not like her to “mess up her face” and for those women who do not care for more exotic colours.
Flame colour is for the blonde by day, and cream containing a violet shade looks well by night. For the brunette the brightest colours, such as sealing-wax and geranium, look well, especially if the lips are prettily shaped and rather full.
Eyes should be taken into account as well as hair when the lipstick is chosen. A brunette with clear blue eyes and a clear texture skin will need a plain-coloured lipstick, and the black-eyed beauty to set off her looks needs an Indian red. Beware of the freckle and the peeling nose. Prevention, not cure, is best. Do not go into the world without first putting cold cream and powder on your neck, and again after a sunny walk or drive cleanse the face and neck with cream, not soap and water.
