HEALING POWER

WORK OF THE WORLD FELLOWSHIP

DR A. G. HALL’S IMPRESSIVE ADDRESS Y.M.C.A. HALL WELL FILLED LAST EVENING The Y.M.C.A. new hall was fulled last night for the after-church address given by the Rev Alfred G. Hall, D.D.. director-general of the World Fellowship of Faith and Service, Mr R. Keltie was chairman and introduced Dr Hall, who is on a world tour for the fellowship, and has conducted most successful campaigns in other countries. Dr Hall briefly outlined the ideals and work of the fellowship. It was a movement, he said, to create a wider interest in spiritual affairs —to bring the message to all parts of the world. In 18 months the fellowship had made gigantic strides in many countries. Dealing with the subject title of his address —“The Healing Power of the Spirit in all matters,” Dr Hall said it could no longer be denied that God was the most vital part in all life. Spiritual reality could no longer be relegated to just the religious life of the individual; rather the religious life must be expressed in every walk of endeavour—social, political, industrial. In propounding a social gospel, a redemptive gospel was a vital necessity. Healing could be applied to world as well as personal affairs —that was the true meaning of divine healing. New Zealand, said Dr Hall, was a wonderful country, and its social legislation provided ample time and opportunity for the physical development and spiritual well-being of the community, and an opportunity to meet the need of spirituality. The church must give consideration to spiritual healing. It must recognise that our Lord’s mission was a healing one, the healing of the social order as well as of mind and body. There was undoubtedly a wonderfully widespread spiritual revival in the world today, and a much more general regard of the power of the spirit in healing than ever before. In moving a vote of thanks to Dr Hall for his inspiring address, Mr Ben Roberts, M.P., said Masterton was indeed fortunate to have a visit from Dr Hall. He felt that Dr Halfls mission for the presentation of the teachings of the Sermon on the Mount would unquestionably leave its mark on the community.

Tonight the subject of Dr Hall’s address is “The Power of Christian Psychology.” Dr Hall has a reputation as one of the most dynamic persons who has ever visited the.. Dominion, with a message most needed at the present time. His striking personality and direct and challenging method of address are a rare combination. Masterton is the only inland town in which Dr Hall is to speak.

His meeting tonight in the Y.M.C.A. commences at 8 o’clock, and a large attendance is anticipated. Tomorrow night, Dr Hall will give class lessons on “Transmitting Faith into Reality.”
