KAHUTARA DRAMA CIRCLE. ENJOYABLE CONCERT. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Kahutara Drama Circle gave - a concert at the South Featherston Hall on Wednesday night in aid of the school funds. There was a large attendance and the programme which was as follows was much appreciated: —Opening chorus, “Ten Pretty Girls;” play, “Captain Johnston;” dance, Miss G. Welsh; piano solo, Miss D. Chisholm; play, “Sing a Song of Sixpence;” humorous recitation, Miss D. Chisholm; Play, “Question of Ownership;” duet, “Sun Bonnet Blue and ia Yellow Straw Hat;” playette, “Amelia Obliges;” campfire chorus; song, B. Chisholm; song by company, “Ten Green Bottles;”' dance, Miss G. Welsh; playette, “Miss Stiggins Visits the Doctor;” duet, “Little Old Lady,” Miss N. Rendle and Mrs Duffy; playette, “Quiet Rubber;” closing chorus; God Save the King.
SCHOOL ASSOCIATION.
MONTHLY MEETING.
_ The South Featherston Home and School Association held its monthly meeting on Thursday. Mrs Arch. Clark was in the chair, thirty-one members being present. It was decided to hold a children’s fancy dress ball and Christmas tree on Thursday, December 15.
Miss Shaw, of Masterton, gave an interesting demonstration of cake decorating, for which she was thanked. The competition for the best article from a sugar bag resulted: Mrs Blaiden and Miss Goodrich, 1; Mrs Wilton, 3. The judges were Mrs Brash and Miss Shaw. The competition next month will be for four white scones without butter and also made with butter. One new member was enrolled. The tea hostesses were Mesdames Cuff and Sorensen.
Armistice Day Service. An Armistice Day service was held in St. John’s Church yesterday morning when the bell was tolled and two minutes silence observed. Miss Card (presiding), and Mrs Bloxam (secretary) of the Women’s National Reserve placed a wreath made by Mrs Rea, on the cenotaph. Personal Items. Mrs Wakely and her daughter, Mrs Simpson, have returned from a holiday spent in Christchurch. Mrs J. Bain, South Featherston, is indisposed and has been confined to her room during the past few days. Sincere regret is felt for Mrs J. Jepson, Senr., in the recent death of her brother, Mr J. Blandford, of Wellington.
The late Barbara Jansen was a pupil of the Featherston Primary School. The senior pupils made a wreath and forwarded it to the funeral as also did the Home and School Association.
A Parcel Evening.
A parcel evening was tendered in the Anzac Hall on Thursday to Mr I. Rae and Miss N. Thompson, whose marriage will take place shortly. A happy time was spent in games and dancing. After supper, Miss Card called upon the guests of honour to open the numerous and useful parcels. Miss Thompson and Mr Rae were accorded musical honours. Mr Rae suitably returned thanks. The singing of Auld . Lang Syne brought a pleasant function to a close.
