STATEMENT BY MINISTRY OF PROPAGANDA POLICE DID NOT INTERFERE TWO JEWS KILLED AND MANY BEATEN .'I — • BERLIN, November 11. Crowds were still parading the streets at 11 o’clock last night, but the police were in complete control. Dr Goebbels’s order to cease demonstration against the Jews were rebroadcast tonight. The Propaganda Ministry told Reuters Agency that it assumed responsibility in connection with the occurences. “The police did not interfere in these spontaneous demonstrations." The offices of the Jewish Agency were sacked and papers and files destroyed, including records of would-be migrants to Palestine. A mob invaded the Jewish community house and partly destroyed the valuable library. Jews of all ages and both sexes were beaten in the streets and their homes. Only two are reported to have been killed, one at an emigrants’ training camp. .
The Official News Agency says owners of Jewish shops in many towns have been placed under protective arrest.
It is alleged that the fire which completely destroyed the Jewish department store of Bamberger and Hertz at Leipzig was caused deliberately, either personally or by agents, in order to secure the insurance money. The owners have been taken into custody on suspicion. The Central Jewish Organisation in Germany has telegraphed to the Government in condemnation of the attack on Dr von Rah. VON RATH’S FUNERAL HERR HITLER TO SPEAK. LONDON, November 11. The Berlin correspondent of the British United Press says that Herr Hitler • will attend and speak at Dr von Rath’s State funeral at Dusseldorf on November 15.
