Over 2000 new road signs, including replacements, have been erected in the ; province by the Auckland Automobile Association since last Christmas, and many more will be put in position before the approaching holidays. In view of the increases in speeds on the unrestricted portions of the highways and improvements in the width of roads, the old type of sign can easily be overlooked, and the association is making greater use than formerly of silver reflecting letters on its notices. It is anticipated that before Christmas a few more places will be gazetted with 30 miles an hour speed limits, and the association will provide signposts.
