CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETING IN MARTINBOROUGJ-I. NATIONAL MILITARY RESERVE PROPOSED.

(“Times-Age" Special.) The monthly meeting of the Central Committee of the Wairarapa R.S.A. was held in Martinborough last night. In the absence of Mr H. J. ( Brass (president) who was indisposed, Mr R. Whyborn occupied the chair. There were also present: Messrs H. G. Alexander, A. L. Bennett, L. S. Nicol, A. E. Prentice, hon. secretary (Masterton); C. A. Gray, C. A. Chennells, A. T. Murray (Carterton), A. Robbins, J. A. Halpin, J. W. Fellingham (Featherston), N. H. Thomas and N. C. D. Mason (Martinborough). Members of the Martinborough branch of the committee were also in attendance. Apologies for absence were received, in addition to one from Mr Brass, from Messrs A. G. Wallis and W. J. White. A circular letter from the New Zealand R.S.A. in regard to the formation of a national military reserve was referred to a general meeting of members to be held on November 30. Four new members were elected, bringing the financial membership to 527, which was the highest figure since 1922.

The treasurer reported a credit balance of £499 5s sd.

Tentative arrangements for the entertainment of 500 Australian ex-sol-diers visiting New Zealand in 1940 were discussed and it was decided to refer ,the proposals to the general meeting of members on Novembei’ 30.
