BUILDING SOCIETY. ELECTION OF DIRECTORS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the annual meeting of' the Eketahuna Terminating Building Society, Messrs R. Dickson, R. Farrow, H. E. Greathead, D. D. Ryan and J. S. Tripe were re-elected directors of the society. A ballot resulted in Mrs M. StoneWigg drawing £l5O and Mrs M. C. Mackie drawing £6OO. Mr J. S. Tripe has been re-elected chairman of directors.

TARARUA RIFLE CLUB. ROSE BOWL COMPETITION. The members of the Tararua Rifle Club fired the first competition for the Ladies’ Rose Bowl last Saturday. Conditions are three shots, two to count The scores were as follow: —

WOMEN’S DIVISION. MEETING AT HAUNUI. At the meeting this month of tl») Haunui branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union apologies for absence were received from Mrs E. Jewitt, Mrs G. Hart and Miss R. Jewitt. Mrs R. Houlbrooke was the only visitor. The competition (best plate of scones) was judged by Mrs R. Houlbrooke and Miss R. Graham, who awarded first prize to Mrs D. Jewitt and second prize to Miss C. Jewitt. The raffle was won by Mr J. Trask. The next competition for the seniors is to be “something new out of something- old,” and the juniors “the prettiest article out of organdie for the bedroom.”

The children’s work entered in the show held at Pongaroa last week was on view and it was very interesting to see what the children had done, both at school and home. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr and Mrs Hislop for instructing them and also to Mrs Harman for her assistance in arranging the work. The hostesses were Mrs M. Robbie, Mrs Wallis and Miss E. Wallis. “High Winds.” It may be of interest to mention that the name of the township, Haunui, which is some 24 miles from Eketahuna, means “high winds.” Personal Items. Mrs Shaw, of Feilding, who has been a visitor to Pongaroa, is now the guest of Mrs Gray, of Bridge Street. Mr and Mrs Murray Fuller are the guests of Mr and Mrs J. F. Mcßride. A visitor to Nireaha is Mrs Hawkins, who is staying with her son, Mr J. Hawkins. Institute Birthday. The Rongokokako Women’s Institute held a most enjoyable birthday party in the Rongakokako Hall last night. There was a large attendance and particular comment was made on the excellent arrangements- for the function.
