While General Franco’s troops were celebrating their recovery of part of the Ebro riverbank, the Government forces yesterday crossed the River Segre at several points to the southwest of Lerida, thereby penetrating Nationalist Spain for "he first time since the March retreat. A communique claims that they have already captured two enemy battalions, 24 machine-guns and 250 rifles, also the three villages of Soses, Aytona and Seros, cutting the LeridaFraga road. The advance is said to be continuing and may relieve present nationalist pressure on the Ebro front. AIR RAID ON REBELS MANY KILLED AND INJURED THREAT OF REPRISALS (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) SALAMANCA, November 8. Eighty-seven persons were killed and 117 wounded when Government planes bombed the village of Cabra. The rebels have issued a communique in which they threaten reprisals.
