ANNUAL SPORTS. RECORDS BROKEN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Two records were broken at the annual sports of Wellington College, held at the school grounds yesterday. They were the shot-put, in which E. P. Flaws added Ift 4Jin to his own record put of 35ft 4|in last year, and the junior mile, which A. M. Gardiner ran in smin 4sec, beating the 1934 time of C. R. Bush, smin 6sec. Flaws’s effort in the shotput compares well with the New Zealand standard distance for the event, 39ft. The weather remained fine for the sports until the last few events were being run. Athletics, boxing, swimming and other sports trophies were presented in the assembly hall afterward by Mrs W. A. Armour, wife of the headmaster. The Minister of Education, Mr Fraser, and Mrs Fraser, were present. There were one or two other good winning performances besides the re-cord-breaking ones, notably the winning discus throw of 116 ft 2in by E. C. Culley, the junior high jump of sft by L. J. Appleton, and the times of J. W. Green in the sprint championships, 10 3-5 for the 100 yards and 24 for the furlong.

The chief trophies were won as follows:—

Senior Championship.—J. W. Green and P. G. Morris, equal. Runner-up, E. F. Flaws.

Junior Championship, Sir Robert and Lady Stout Cup.—P. G. Kissel; runnerup, B. J. Edwards. Lady Prendergast Cup, half-mile, open.—P. G. Morris. Lord Ranfurly Cup, jumping events. —E. F. Flaws.

Oram Cup, mile championship and cross-country run, senior.—J. J. Shallcrass.

Knox Gilmer Memorial Cup, mile championship and cross-country run, junior.—A. M. Gardiner. Luke Cup, 440 yards championship.— J. W. Green.

Sievwright Cup, mile walk.—J. Galloway.

Finch Cup, 120 yards hurdles. —J. W, Green.

Oscar Kember Cup, 220 yards senior championship. —J. W. Green. Gawen Holden Cup, 100 yards senior championship. —J. W. Green. Old Boys’ Special Prize, field events. —E. C. Culley.
