• BIDEFORD CLUB’S CLOSING DAY. PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. In declaring the 1938 season closed on Sunday last Mr C. J. Percy, president of the Bideford Golf Club, thanked the large gathering of members and friends for their presence. He went on to say that it reminded him of the early days of the Bideford Club to see such a number of friends at the closing dav and he hoped he would see just as many present for '.he opening next season. Mr T. H. Bell endorsed Mr Percy’s remarks, and Mr H. Smith called for -three cheers for the Percy family for the use of Ihe links which he described as one of the best nine-hole courses in the country.

Mr C. Percy then called on Mrs Percy to present the following trophies: — Ladies’ championship: Mrs T. H. Falloon. Captain’s trophy: Mrs T. H. Falloon. Mrs J. Wrigley’s trophy: Mrs T. H. Bell. Mrs J. H. Percy's trophy: Won outright by Mrs J. Nicholls. L.G.U. medal: Mrs Nicholls.

Mem Senior championship. J. Bell; junior championship, A. Kerr; local championship, C. Percy captain’s trophy, G. Falloon; net aggregate, R. Falloon.

A feuroall best ball clayed in the morning was won by W. Batty and J. Thornton with a score of 5 up. The mixed foursome in the afternoon -was won by Mrs Clarke and H. Hume, and Mr and Mrs R. Plummer won the men’s and ladies’ putting competitions respectively.
