BUTTER MARKET SLOW PRICES FOR CHEESE STEADY ' The London butter market was marked by a slow demand last week, according to the cabled report supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to the Dairy Board. The price of New Zealand salted butter was unchanged at 114 s a cwt, compared with 150 s to 151 s at this time last year. The present price of 114 s is equal to approximately 13,58 d a lb f.0.b., New Zealand ports, compared with the guaranteed price of 14.89 d a lb, f.o.b. The London equivalent of the guaranteed price is 124 s 3d a cwt. The equivalent price of cheese is about 8.03 d a lb, f.0.b., compared with the guaranteed price of 8.42 d. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the 1 previous week in parentheses, were as follows: — New Zealand: Salted, 114 s (114 s a year ago, 150 s to 151 s); unsalted, 114 s to 116 s (114 s to 115 s). Australian: Salted, 109 s to 110 s (109 s to 110 s); unsalted, 110s.to Ills (110 s to 112 s). Danish, 114 s f.0.b., 135 s to 136 s spot (115 s 136 s to 1375). Dutch, unsalted, 109 s, ex 113 s (108 s to 109 s). Lithuanian, unsalted, 110 s, ex 112 s (110 s to 112 s). Retail prices . were unchanged, New. Zealand at Is 2d and Danish at Is 4d a lb. Deliveries of New Zealand butter from store last week were 1069 tons. The quantity in store on Friday, including 1733 tons ex Rangitane, was 4364 tons, compared with 4091 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter were 890 tons! the quantity in store being 2774 tons, as against 531 tons a year ago. The cheese market was steady last week, Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: — New Zealand, white and coloured, 70s, ex 70s 6d (70s 6d to 71s; a year year ago, white 745, coloured 735). Australian, white and coloured, 66s to 68s (67s to 695).

Canadian, white and coloured, 72s to 73s (72s to 735); old season’s white and coloured, 80s (80s). English, finest farmers’, 86s to 92s (86s to 86s 6d); English, factory cheese, 66s (65s to 695). Deliveries of New Zealand cheese last week were 10,104 crates, the quantity remaining in store being 33,500 crates, as against 48,272 crates a year ago.

Deliveries of Canadian cheese last week were 8366 boxes, the quantity in store being 113,451 boxes, as against 149,040 boxes a year ago.
