Mrs Swainson, Lake Ferry, Palliser Bay, has returned from a visit to Palmerston North. Mrs G. Graham has returned to Stratford after a visit to Hawke's Bay and the Wairarapa. Miss Eva Yeoman, of “Ngarata.’’ Pongaroa, has entered the nursing profession, and has taken up her duties at Kawhia. Waikato.
Miss Miriam Hunter, Havelock North, who has been the guest of Miss M. McLaren, Te Rangitumau, has returned to her home.
Mr and Mrs Avaan, of Wellington, and Mr and Mrs Birch-Johnston, of New Plymouth, are the guests of Mr and Mrs J. Stempa, Kaituna.
A juror who was called up for service at the session of the Napier Supreme Court offered as an excuse for exemption that he had a crop of strawberries ripening and waiting to be picked. He also had cows to milk twice a day, and was farming by himself. The Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers) accepted the explanation and freed the juror from service.
