“LEAVE US ALONE”

HERR HITLER ON GERMAN AIMS ONLY LAWFUL RIGHTS WANTED. TALK ABOUT DISARMAMENT DISCOUNTED. (Received This Day, 10.10 a.m.) By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. BERLIN, November 6. Herr Hitler, speaking at a Nazi party rally at Weimar said: “If Parliamentarians abroad dared to say that Germany broke treaties, we would reply that they more flagrantly broke the Versailles Treaty. Germany laid down her arms on the promise of President Wilson’s fourteen points and was shamefully betrayed. Because I love peace I have done all possible to give Germany all the arms and’ defensive forces she needs in order to prevent ethers forcing war upon us. All I say to the world is ‘Leave us alone and do not get near us. We wish nothing but our lawful rights.’ “Ee cautious,” Herr Hitler continued, “when people talk about international peace and disarmament. There can be no question of disarmament as long as there is no disarmament of spirit. There are foreign newspapers saying we could have got all we wanted by negotiations. I am ready to negotiate, but shall never tolerate Germany’s rights being trampled on. Democratic states should understand that we do not claim more than they are claiming for themselves.” MR CHURCHILL CRITICISED. Referring to Mr Winston Churchill, Herr Hitler said: “He thinks he can set aside the Germany of today. It would be better if Mr Churchill associated less with people pa<i by foreign States and more with the German people. “War agitators in Britain felt hurt because I dared to mention them,” the Fuehrer continued. “We have no right to demand that other States should change their constitution, but I have a duty to recognise that these men may enter the Government. The DeputyLeader of the Opposition in the House of Commons said he had not concealed the fact that he wanted to see Italy and Germany destroyed. I cannot prevent this man and his party corhihg into power in one or two years in a democratic shuffle, but I can prevent him destroying Germany. I promise I shall do my utmost to prevent such a man harming Germany. We are ready to disarm on one condition only—namely, a stoppage of all war campaign against our country.”

WANTS IT BOTH WAYS

HITLER ON REARMAMENT. GOOD IN GERMANY BUT BAD IN BRITAIN. (Received This Day, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, November 6. Mademe Tabouis, writing in the “Sun-Referee” declares that Herr Hitler telephoned instructions to Herr von Dirksen (Ambassador to Britain) on October 14, to tell the British Government that Herr Hitler viewed rearmamen speeches unfavourably and to point out that the Munich agreement was concluded with a view to a limitation of armaments, and that since Germany did not intend to use arms against Britain it was unnecessary to impose the burden of large-scale rearmament on the British people. On the other hand, if Germany was strengthening her armaments it was owing to anxiety regarding Britain’s real plans.
