FINAL DAY AT FLEMINGTON AJAX WINS AGAIN. FOURTEENTH SUCCESSIVE VICTORY. By Telegraph-Press Association— Copyright. MELBOURNE, November 6. Fine weather and a good attendance favoured the concluding day of the V.R.C. meeting at Flemington on Saturday. Early Bird had a comfortable win m the Batman Stakes, making two wins in two starts at the meeting, which justified the 2300 guineas given for her some time ago. Early Bird is trained by J. T. Jamieson and her rider, E. Bartie, has now won this race for the third time.

There was an exciting finish in the Flemington Stakes, El Reo just beating Glenfino and Wilson. The lastnamed made a promising effort. Beaucaire was fair, but Night Legend was never dangerous. Ajax led all the way in the C. B. Fisher Plate and hung out in the straight. Royal Chief finished well but never looked like catching the leader. Aitchengee was a moderate third.

This is Ajax’s fourteenth successive victory, equalling Phar Lap’s record in that respect. Ajax has now won £24,475. Bourbon finished strongly for a comfortable win in the V.R.C. Handicap. Crusader tried to lead all the way. Kingdom was a fair third. Catalogue had every show and was fifth.

Mustella finished strongly to win the J. A. MacLeod Steeplechase. He is raced and trained by J. Moloney, who won the Grand National Hurdles with Belar. This is Mustella’s first start at Flemington. He has wonderful possibilities as a steeplechaser. Cyclist, who had a narrow win in the Ottawa Stakes, is trained by the former New Zealander, L. Robertson, and is a stable-mate of Zonda. Folksong showed pace, but tired. Manolive, who was always well placed, had a well-deserved win in the Final Handicap. Othello finished well to beat Footmark for second place.
