GREYTOWN
TRUST LANDS TRUST. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Greytown Trust Lands Trust was held on Thursday evening. There were present Messrs H. G. Carter (chairman), W. H. Day, F. Dennes, H. J. Nightingale, H. Walden and E. Graham. The chairman extended a welcome to Mr E. Graham, the newly elected member. The secretary (Mr B. Kiernan) submitted a statement of rents in arrears, and it was decided to place these in the solicitor’s hands.
The question of renovations to a Trust house was fully discussed, and it was decided to meet the builder at the property. The manager of the gas works submitted a report as requested. The report stated that the gas appliances were now in first class order. The annual grant to the school committee of £6O was passed for payment. The secretary was instructed to notify the Land Tax Department that the transfer of certain sections to the Housing Department was dated from April 1, 1938. Shortage of Houses. Although it is some months since tenders were called for the erection of Government Houses in Greytown, nothing has been made public as to when a start will be made with the buildings. There is an undoubted shortage of houses .in Greytown at the present lime. Personal. Mr R. Page, of the Greytown staff of the Bank of New Zealand, is at present carrying out relieving duties at Featherston.
