The strike of seventy workers in the pickling department of the Lysaght's galvanised iron works at Newcastle has led to the closing of the mills indefinitely from today. About 1500 men are rendered idle.
The pickling department strike arose out of a claim by the men that the seniority principle should have been observed when men were put off.
