General Franco, who is using over 300 planes in his Ebro attacks, simultaneously launched an offensive on the Lerida front where his forces were heavily repulsed. TOWNS BOMBED SEVENTY PERSONS KILLED. (Independent Cable Service.) VALENCIA. November 2. Seventy persons were killed and 200 wounded in nine rebel air-raids on coastal towns yesterday. A bomb was dropped on a passenger train outside the hospital town of Alcira. killing 27 and wounding 80. BRIBES OFFERED. INDUCEMENT TO COMMIT BARRATRY. (Independent Cable Service.) LONDON, November 1. British shipowners trading to Spain issued a statement today that the rebels were offering large sums in British currency to induce British captains to commit barratry (fraud or gross- negligence to the prejudice of shipowners).
