TOO MUCH AIR
EGG RETAILER PENALISED. Too much air in pullets’ eggs cost a retailer £3 at the Sydney Police Court recently. Joseph Somers, of Oxford Street, pleaded guilty to having sold eggs of a quality not asked for. An inspector of the Egg Marketing Board (N. Cooney) said that he asked Somers for J 8 fresh pullet eggs. Somers, he said, tested the eggs in front of a candle before handing them over. “Notwithstanding the test, I found the air sacs in 15 eggs too large,” he said. “They should have been .graded as second quality.”
