Mr James Duke, of Rotherham, in Yorkshire, is blind, but he walks miles in the country. It is eight years since he lost his sight, and in these years he has walked alone along winding lanes without once losing his way. Sometimes he walks 30 miles, and he knows almost every hedge. Navvies engaged in street repairs have discovered beneath the pavement of the market place at Bunzlau, in Silesia, the long-lost foundation-stone of a monument to Field-Marshal Prince Kutusoff, who commanded the Russian (Army against Napoleon in 1812. Prince 'Kutusoff died at Bunzlau during the pursuit of the main army in 1813.
