GREYTOWN
MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB. PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual dance of the Greytown Miniature Rifle Club was held in the Odd Fellows’ Hall last night. The hall ‘was packed, and all the other miniature, rifle clubs in Wairarapa were represented. Te Tau’s Orchestra supplied the music and Mr H. Tui Morgan was M.C. Just before-supper Mr G. Te Whaiti (president) presented the trophies won during the season. Mr Te Whaiti expressed the 'appreciation of the club for the large attendance at the function that night. He also expressed his personal thanks to the officers of the club who had done good work during the past season. He also thanked the ladies’ committee for the very able manner in which they had assisted the club. The following were the trophy'winners:— Season’s aggregate cup, 75 per cent of total shoots to count: R. J. Tilson was first with a fine score of 1585 out of a total of 1600. Udy Cup, 5 shoots to count off rifle: R. J. Tilson, 594 out of a possible of 600. A grade championship: R. J. Tilson, with a score of 396 out of a possible of 400; runner-up, A. W. Robinson with a score of 393. B grade championship: Miss A. Gray, with a score of 389 out of a possible of 400; R. Hood was second with a score of 387. This is a fine performance on the part of the winner as this is her first season at shooting. Bockett Cup; Miss A. Gray, with a score of 297 out of 300, after a shoot-off with her sister, Miss C. Gray. Mrs Tully’s and Miss Roband’s trophy was won by Miss A. Gray. Mr Doney’s trophy: Miss A. Gray. R. R. Tilson’s trophy, A grade: R. Eaton, 296 out of 300. H. and R. J. Tilson’s trophy, B grade: Miss C. Gray, 297 out of 300. Ron Hill’s trophy for the most useful member on and off the range: T. Morgan. Mr G. Te Whaiti’s cups for the members who won most weekly badges: A grade: G. Rhodes (6 times); B grade, Miss Morgan (5 times).
