CARTERTON

ODD FELLOWS’ LODGE. FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. ("Times-Age’- Special.) The fortnightly meeting .of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge was held last evening, N.G. Bro. R. J. Fisher presiding. Four members declared off the sick funds of the lodge. A refund was received from headquarters of £l3O paid out to a deceased brother. A brother residing in Wellington wrote notifying that he was still unable to follow his usual occupation and enclosing a doctor’s certificate. It was resolved to assist ia member from the Benevolent Fund by a small grant. Sick stewards reported upon the progress of sick members. First nominations of officers were made as under:—N-G., Bro A. R. Tankersley; V.G., Bro G. McPherson; E.S., Bro R. J. Fisher; Warden, Bro McPherson. Further nominations will close next lodge night. Personal Items. Mrs Pepperell, of Port Ahuriri, Napier, is a visitor to Carterton. Mr J. Lawrence, Senr., of Wanganui, is staying with his son, Mr J. A. B. Lawrence, Park Road. Funeral of Mrs Reynolds. The funeral of the late Mrs C. L. Reynolds took place at the Clareville Cemetery yesterday afternoon. There was a large following of mourners, and before the cortege moved away from the residence a shqrt service was conducted by the Rev Ralph Byers, M.A., who also officiated at the graveside. The pall-bearers were Messrs G. Reynolds, H. Reynolds, O. R. Fairbrother, C. D. Fairbrother, A. Corpe and A. Rowse, all of whom were nephews of the late Mrs Reynolds and Mr Reynolds Wreaths were sent among others by the Wairarapa P. and A. Society, St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Women’s Christian Temperance Union, Women’s Division of Farmers’ Union, and the P.W.M.U. League of Mothers. The members of the committee of the League of Mothers held their final meeting of ihe year at the residence of Mrs A. W. Beale, Rexwood Street, on Monday afternoon, and were afterwards entertained to tea end competitions by Mrs Beale.
