R.S.A. REUNION
GATHERING OF FEATHERSON BRANCH (“Times-Age” Special) The annual re-union of the Featherston branch of the Wairarapa R.S.A. was held in the Anzac Hall, Featherston, on Saturday night. The function took the form of a smoke concert, and the musical portion of the entertainment was provided by eight members of the Wellington “Tin Hat Club.” Over 80 ex-servicemen attended, and all had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs D. H. S. Riddiford, A. E. Prentice, K. H. Allen and D. C. Kibblewhite. The part played by the members of the “Tin Hat Club” was largely responsible for the evening being such a great success. After the toast to the King was honoured, Mr H. Lawson proposed the toast to “Fallen Comrades.” During the silence following, requiem was sung by a member of the “Tiff Hat Club.” The toast to the N.Z.RT.S.A. was proposed by Mr Robbins, and responded to by Mr R. W. Wyborn, vice-president of the association. Both men referred to the good work done by the N.Z.R.S.A., and stressed the importance of all diggers supporting the association. The toast to the visitors was proposed by Mr Lawson, and was responded to by Matron L. Higginson, G. R. Robinson (Greytown) J. H. McKay (Wellington), R. W. Wyborn (Masterton), G. Johnston (Carterton), and F. S. Hayes (Featherston). Before returning to Wellington the members of the “Tin Hat Club” visited the Buchanan Home at Greytown and entertained the inmates. Their kindness was' very much appreciated by the matron, staff and patients.
