OPERA HOUSE

GYMNASTIC DISPLAY The ever popular gymnastic and variety entertainment organised so capably by the local branch of the Y.M.C.A. is the outstanding, fixture in the Opera House this week. Tomorrow night’s performance, judging from the programme advertised elsewhere, promises to eclipse all previous records for spectacular events, and with vivid memories of last year’s crowded house, patrons will do well to book their seats or be early at the Opera House. The Masterton Y.M.C.A. is at present fortunate in having in its membership a group of outstanding gymnasts, and from exhibitions on the stage and in the Show Ring in recent years, it is certain that thrilling gymnastic work of real merit will provide satisfying entertainment to those who are present.

The Association has engaged the recognised star turn of the Wellington Y.M.C.A. Carnival—Mr Jack Hanna, and his Human Statues in Bronze. The Ladder Pyramids which will fill the whole proscenium opening of the Opera House stage both in height and width with human figures suspended as it were in mid-air, is a new feature that promises to delight and thrill the audience. These are but a few of the items in a programme which includes “Teddy” —Masterton’s Wonder Dog, A Sketch, so items by leading artists, music by a special orchestra, and a novelty band, and the antics of three clever clowns. j
