ANGLO-ITALIAN PACT
EARLY IMPLEMENTATION EXPECTED
QUESTION OF WITHDRAWALS FROM SPAIN
BRITAIN SAID TO BE SATISFIED
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, October 28.
Little is divulged officially in London in regard to the implementation of the Anglo-Italian Agreement beyond the Government’s apparent satisfaction that the withdrawal of 10.000 Italians from Spain fulfils the definition of “substantial withdrawal.” This was solely responsible for the six months’ delay in which Italy meantime has ceased the anti-British wireless propaganda in the Near East and adequately respected the British rights in Lake Tana. Abyssinia. Thus the way is clear to face up to Italy’s equally vital desire for recognition of the conquest of Abyssinia, and also for better relations in the Mediterranean, including fortifications there, and in the Red Sea, as well as in Arab and other problems incidental to Mr Chamberlain’s policy of appeasement.
