PREPARATIONS FOR COMING SHOW APPOINTMENT OF MARSHAL STEWARDS The chairman, Mr P. R. Welch presided at the monthly meeting of the general committee of the Masterton A. and P. Association held last night. “I only know the diseases of the potato and the carrot,” said Mr W. Kemp, when referring to a letter received from the Royal Society, seeking information, on behalf of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, as to the prevalence and importance of animal diseases. A committee consisting of Messrs S. H. Cotter, A. H. Falloon, J. M. James and R. M. Perry was set up to investigate the positiofi.
A letter was received from the Masterton Collie Club stating that members would be pleased to act as stewards at the association’s Show. A report on the revision of the sheep catalogue was received and adopted with some minor amendments. On the motion of Mr N. Blatchford, it was decided to give consideration in the future, to the training of young stewards at the Show in the duties of deputy-judges and finally of judges.
Five new members were elected, and accounts amounting to £9l 7s 5d were passed. The following marshal stewards for next year's show were appointed:— Parade Marshal, Mr W. G. Laing, Lincolns, Mr J. W. Colquhoun; Romneys, open. Mr C. A. Wyeth; Romneys, n.c., Mr T. A. Brown; Southdown, open, Mr P. D. McLachlan; Southdown, n.c., Mr J. G. McKay; Corriedale, Mr R. M. Perry; Freezers, Mr F. C. Stowell or Mr L. Connolly; Fat sheep, Mr G. Harvey; Shorthorn, Mr G. Harvey; Shorthorn and P.A., Mr H. M. Brisco; Hereford, Mr L. T. Daniell; Ayrshire. Mr lan McLachlan; Jerseys, Mr E. T. Wilton, Friesians, Mr Don McGregor; M. B. Horn and Dairy, Mr F. G. Wrigley; Fat Cattle, Mr J. M. James; Pigs, Mr S. H. Cotter; Draught Horse, member of Young Farmers’ Club; Car Parking, N. E„ Mr H.
