CHRISTIAN SCIENCE
Doctrine of atonement was the subject of the lesson-sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday. The Golden Text was I Thess, 5,9, 10, “God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that, where we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.” Among the citations which comprised the. Lesson were the following from the Bible: “But those things, which God before had show.ed'by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” (Acts 3, 18, 19). Also the following passage!? from the Christian Science textbook: “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy, “We acknowledge Jesus’ atonement as the evidence of divine, efficacious love, unfolding man’s unity with God through Christ Jesus the Way-shower; and we acknowledge that man is saved through Christ, through Truth, Life, and Love, as demonstrated by the Galilean Prophet in healing the sick and overcoming sin and death.” (P. 497).
