ARRIVALS AT AUCKLAND
COMMANDER OF DEVENPORT NAVAL BASE. MR & MRS E. G. NORMAN BACK FROM ENGLAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This, Day. Passengers by the Rangitiki from London included Captain H. M. Basnes, who is to replace Commander Tinley, officer in charge of the Devonport Naval Base, accompanied by his wife, daughter and young son. Captain Barnes has recently been attached to the Atlantic Fleet, and as commander of a destroyer last year was engaged in the non-intervention blockade of the Spanish coast. During the war he served in Gallipoli and at Zebrugge. Other passengers were Lady Stewart, of Banks Peninsula, accompanied by her two daughters, after a visit to England; Captain V. C. White Parsons, a retired New Zealand Shipping Company master, who has been on an extended tour to England and Europe and Mr E. G. Norman, manager of Thos. Borthwick and Sons, Masterton, accompanied by his wife, returning from/England.
