Something more than coincidence is seen in the fact fact while the French Prime Minister, M Daladier, was yesterday receiving Count Welczech, the German Ambassador in Paris, Mr Francois-Poncet, who is leaving his post as French Ambassador in Berlin (he is now appointed to Rome), was taking leave of Herr Hitler at Berchtesgaden, says the Paris correspondent of “The Times.” It is believed that the French Government is now making strenuous efforts io come to terms with Nazi Germany at the earliest possible moment. The Berlin correspondent of “The Times” reports that it is understood M Francois-Poncet went to Berchtesgaden at Herr Hitler’s request. Herr Hitler, it is stated, expressed sincere appreciation of the efforts to improve French and German relations, thereby ensuring peace. __
