CARTERTON

PROPOSED QUEEN CARNIVAL. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of the Carterton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers' Union was held in the office of the South Wairarapa Motors yesterday afternoon. Mrs J. Standen presided over a representative meeting in the absence of the president (Mrs E. W. Allen). The meeting was called for the purpose of organising a Queen Carnival in conjunction with the Pipe Band, the funds from which are to go towards providing uniforms for members of the Pipe Band. Nothing definite was decided upon at the meeting but a further meeting will be held shortly to decide upon a date and the method of conducting the function. Personal. Miss Eileen Pinfold, daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Pinfold, Rhodes Street, Carterton, commenced duties at the Carterton telephone exchange this morning. R.S.A. Re-Union. The Carterton branch of the Returned Soldiers Association will hold a reunion in the Masonic Hall, this evening.- It is expected that there will be a large number present, including visitors from all parts of the district. “CINDERELLA" STAGED BY GIRL’S CLUB There was a good attendance at the King’s Theatre last evening to witness the musical play “Cinderella,” by members of the Girls’ Club. Thei performance was well staged, and the acting of those who took part reflected great credit upon their organiser and tutor, Miss Berrill. The principal role, that of Cinderella, was taken by Miss Patty Manley, who gave a very finished display; indeed all the parts were well carried out. The acting of each gained well deserved applause. Marshall, A. McLean, N. Chapman; B. Simmonds, N. Tinsley, M. Hack, T. Edge, M. Herdman, M. Pauling, E. Taplin and A. Bannister; Pianiste, Miss F. Stevens, assisted by Mr T. Udy and his Orchestra.
