INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

RECITAL IN OPERA HOUSE LAST NIGHT. AN ENJOYABLE PROGRAMME. Instrumental and vocal music of a high standard was heard in the Opera House last night, when the pupils and ex-pupils of Mr Edward Larsen, R.M.T., presented their annual recital. The assisting artist was Mr DilmotWales, the popular Masterton baritone. Violin solos, instrumental trios, quartets and sextettes together with several items by the Hawaiian Orchestra and the Venetian Band, togethei’ with the delightful singing of Mr Wales, formed an excellent evening’s entertainment. Larsen; Venetian Band, (a) “On the Trail” March (Bardwell); (b) .“Buddies” March (Lange); violin solo, “Habanera” (Bizet), Jim Smith; trio, “Melody of Peace” (Le Roy), Miss E. Byford, R. McGovern and E. Larsen; violin solo, “Serenade” (Tostelli), Miss N. Judd; Hawaiian Orchestra, (a) “On the Lake” (Foden); (b) "Memories” (Cooper); Venetian Band, (a) “Pilot March” (Foden), (b) “Southern Favourites” (Foden); violin solo, “Menuett” (Beethoven), Douglas Tagg; sextette —(a) Gavotte —"Fleur de Lis” (Zamecnik); (b) “Springtime” (Van Norman), Messrs W. Parker, F. Gray, H. Tagg, A. Cruickshank, H. Miles and E. Larsen; song, Mr Dilnot Wales; violet duet, “Neapolitan” (Lawson), Miss N. Judd and D. Larsen; quartet, “Red River Valley” (Body), Miss N.
