MEASLES EPIDEMIC
FEWER CASES IN AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, October 17. A marked decrease in the number of persons affected by measles in the Auckland metropolitan and rural areas occurred last week, compared with the previous week, according to a report issued by the district office of the Health Department. Absentees last week among 3787 persons employed by eight city firms totalled 14, or .3 per cent, compared with 38 in the previous week, representing 1.02 per cent. These figures relate to both ordinary and German measles, although in most cases German measles predominate. The position in the country districts is reported to be satisfactory, although a few cases are still occuring in the Helensville, Paeroa and Tauranga districts.
