HAWAIIAN ORCHESTRA

RECITAL TONIGHT. The public of Masterton are reminded of the recital which is to be given in the Opera House at 8 o’clock tonight by a Hawaiian Orchestra and Venetian Band conducted by Mr Edward Larsen. Beside selections by the orchestra and Venetian band there will be a piano accordion item of an interesting nature the like of which has not been presented in Masterton before. This comprises, an arrangement for piano-accordion, two violins and ’cello. The Hawaiian Orchestra will open the programme with the popular “Whistling Rufus,” followed by the “Silver Sands Waltz” which is a lilting melody typical of Hawaii. Another favourite is “Toselli’s Serenata,” which will be heard as a violin solo. The Venetian Band will play the popular march “On the Trail,” bracketed with “The Buddies March.” Then several old songs will be heard in a medley “Southern Favourites,” which is very suitable for such a band as ample scope is given for some very harmonious effects. Mr Dilnot Wales will be the vocalist and will sing several songs. The charges for admission are moderate and the public are assured of a pleasant evening’s entertainment.
