WEDDINGS

SOWMAN—WATSON. At the Knox Church, Masterton, on Saturday, the marriage took place of Aisne Ivy, the elder daughter of Mr and Mrs James Watson, Masterton, and Leslie Charles, elder son of Mrs Sowman and the late Mr G. Sowman, of Wanganui, and formerly of Masterton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. David McNeur, and Mr E. Wilson presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a beautiful gown of magnolia satin, cut on classical lines. The tulle veil, falling from a halo of orange blossom, formed a second train over the train of her gown. Her arm spray was of white tulips and maiden-hair fern. Attending the bride was Miss Olga Watson, sister of. the bride, Miss Elsie Daysh, and Miss Zealie Abbott, dressed alike in blue blistered parchment with short blue net veils to match, wearing necklaces of cut rock crystal, gifts from the bridegroom, and carrying sheafs of pink tulips. Mr Ray Sowman, Masterton, brother of the bridegroom, was best man and Messrs Len Daysh and Roy Banks were groomsmen. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. After the ceremony, Mr and Mrs Watson held a reception at the Cosy Tea Rooms where the usual toasts were honoured, including that of the grandmother of the bride and bridegroom, Mrs Abbott and ,Mrs Banks respectively, who have been neighbours for many years. Mrs Watson, who wore a navy ensemble and carried a bouquet of pink carnations received the guests. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, Mrs Sowman, who was in a navy blue frock with a navy coatee and carried a bouquet of pink carnations. When Mr and Mrs Leslie Sowman left on their honeymoon, the bride was wearing a navy costume with navy accessories and a fur which was a gift from the bridegroom. Their future home will be in Wellington. STEVEN—JENKINSON. (“Times-Age” Special.) A wedding of interest to Carterton residents took place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Wadestown, Wellington on Saturday. The contracting parties were Elizabeth, elder daughter of Mrs and the late Mr J. Jenkinson, of Wadestown, and John, second son of Mr and Mrs George Steven, of Rhodes Street, Carterton. The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr Jenkinson, of Palmerston North, looked charrhjng in a beautiful ivory satin gown, with veil over face and carried a bouquet of lilies. The bridesmaid was Miss M. Mann, cousin of the bride, who was attired in a charming gown of pink organdie and carried a bouquet to tone. Mr O. Hatton, of Masterton, officiated as best man, and the Rev. Mr McPherson was the officiating minister. A reception was afterwards held at the “Makador,” where the usual toasts were honoured and good wishes expressed for the future happiness of the newly-wedded couple, who were the recipient of many costly and beautiful presents. The future home of Mr and Mrs J. Steven will be Martinborough.
