Mr Gandhi, in a statement, said the plight of the Czechs moved him to a point of physical and mental distress. He exonerated England and France, which countries, despite all their goodwill, were unable to help the Czechs. He suggests that Herr Hitler might be tamed by a policy of non-violent resistance.’ He said: “Who can say that dictators will not respond to higher and finer forces?”
